Candidates for membership in our chapter(s) to be chartered this evening, these are the purposes of Omicron Tau Theta:

To promote leadership in vocational education.

PRESIDENT-ELECT
(POINTING TO THE SEAL)
Omicron (pause) represented by the circle, signifies the cycle of human resources in society. The circle of Omicron is the cycle of life, the Alpha and the Omega; the beginning and the end.
Tau (pause) represented by the T, signifies truth which each of us must promote and cherish when working with learners.
Theta (pause) represented by the circle and centered banner, signifies you, the individual. You are the Theta. You are needed to assure that Omicron, the cycle of human resources and Tau, the adherence to truth, are assured for future generations.

HISTORIAN
The history of vocational education dates to those individuals who first taught productive skills to youth and adults for an improved quality of life. The golden era of all civilizations can be traced to their building and sharing of vocational skills.
Apprenticeship training, cooperative education, and other modes of education for the world of work have existed in all societies.
The history of education for vocations is marked by many achievements. Vocational education, unlike any other discipline, is the common thread that can bridge the ideas of peoples, the goals of societies, and the philosophies of governments.
The future mandates that leadership in vocational education rests with you--leaders in vocational education.

PRESIDENT
Will all member candidates representing each of our charter chapter(s) please rise. Candidates, please repeat after me:
I accept the leadership responsibilities
(pause)
consistent with the goals of Omicron Tau Theta
(pause)
to promote the leadership in vocational education
